Helicobacter pylori (HP) is a Gram-negative bacterium that is spiral or S-shaped, has 4-6 sheathed flagella, is highly motile, and parasitizes the stomach, adhering to the gastric mucosa and the cellular interstitial space; it is the only species of microorganisms known to be able to survive in the stomach, and it is also present in saliva, dental plaque, and also found in saliva, dental plaque and feces.
